Surfaces:
In this project, I transformed a 3” x 3” x 4” block of mint-green prototyping foam into a Class-A abstract silver form, achieving a flawless finish with no visible imperfections. There are no shortcuts in this process—only hours of meticulous craftsmanship, where discipline is key at every stage. This project demanded an acute sensitivity to form—how each surface transitions, how edges define the shape, and how precision elevates the final result.
I began by sketching shapes inspired by the rise and flow of mountains and nature. After selecting a design, I carefully shaped the foam using hand files, refined it with sandpaper, and coated it in resin to create a smooth surface for priming. After multiple layers of priming and sanding to correct minor imperfections, I painted it in automotive metallic silver, sealed it with two clear coats, and polished it to a high shine. The result is a sleek, abstract silver form, fitted with a wall-mounting anchor.
