3D Printed Loafer
Spring 2024
A loafer is a simple yet classic shoe that can be worn in the classroom, out to dinner, or even on the docks. In this project I decided to create a 3D printable wearable loafer that would look as close to a real leather loafer as possible. A model of this shoe can be downloaded from Thingiverse to to 3D print.
Along with replicating the shoe as closely as possible, I wanted to limit the amount of extra steps needed the amount of extra steps needed to post process the shoe after printing. In this model, the only supplemental materials one would have to supply to complete the shoe are tassels, glue, and a small piece of string.
Research of the form of the shoe consisted of documenting how the shoe flexes in motion, by breaking down one shoe into all of its individual components, and creating a plaster last of the shoe to load into Fusion to model around.
