Alphabet Soup:
Fall 2022
Using only the twenty-six letters of the alphabet in grayscale, I created my own interpretation of alphabet soup—an intricate composition that both reveals and obscures letterforms. Inspired by snowflakes and mandalas, I aimed to design something that felt detailed up close but blended into a cohesive shape from afar.
In this project, I carefully analyzed the form of each letter to determine how it would contribute to the overall composition. The sharp angles of an uppercase "A" formed diamonds and triangles, while the curves of a lowercase "a" created softer, rounded shapes. Applying this approach across the alphabet, I developed twenty-six unique designs, each shaped by the letter’s distinct geometry, as well as one 7x10” print that features over two hundred placed shapes.
